Fundado em 1935, o New York Film Critics Circle é composto por críticos de jornais diários, semanais, revistas e publicações online qualificadas de interesse geral. Anualmente, os membros da organização se reúnem em Nova York para deliberar e eleger os melhores filmes, atores e diretores do ano em questão. O New York Film Critics Circle, juntamente com o Los Angeles Film Critics Association e o National Society of Film Critics, compõe o que é frequentemente chamado de “Trifecta”.
